It's okay I can feel awkward in photos to!
This is one of the most common things I hear from clients before their shoot. The fear of not knowing how to pose or worrying about how you look can feel overwhelming. But the truth is - you don’t need to be naturally “photogenic” to look amazing in photos.
As a photographer, my job is to help you feel comfortable, confident, and like yourself in front of the camera.

Why You Feel Awkward in Photos (And Why It’s Normal)
If you feel awkward in photos, it’s usually because:
You’re not used to being in front of a camera
You don’t know what to do with your body
You’re overthinking every movement
And honestly? That’s completely normal.
Most people aren’t models - and you definitely don’t need to be.

You Don’t Need to Know How to Pose
A big part of why people feel awkward in photos is thinking they need to “perform.”
You don’t.
I guide you through everything:
Where to stand
What to do with your hands
How to move naturally
Your only job is to show up, I take care of the rest :)
Movement Is the Secret to Natural Photos
Standing still often makes you feel stiff.
Instead, I’ll guide you into:
Walking
Adjusting your outfit
Looking away and back
This creates natural, relaxed images that don’t feel forced.
Talking Helps You Relax
One of the easiest ways to stop feeling awkward is simply… talking.
During your shoot, we’ll chat the whole time. This helps you:
Stop overthinking
Feel more like yourself
Relax into the moment
Wearing the Right Outfit Boosts Confidence
If you feel uncomfortable in what you’re wearing, it will show.
Choosing something you love can instantly reduce that “I feel awkward in photos” feeling.

Stick to:
Outfits you’ve worn before
Neutral colours
Comfortable fits
I have a post about what to wear at a photoshoot for women, if you are struggling on choosing your outfit.
My Number 1 Tip If You Feel Awkward in Photos
You don’t need to fix yourself.
You just need the right environment and guidance.
